PINETOPS, N.C. — Top 10 bedding producer Therapedic has entered the upholstered furniture category with a licensee here.
The company has entered into an agreement for Edgecombe Furniture to produce sofas, loveseats, chairs, sofa-sleepers and other upholstery products under the Therapedic label. Therapedic’s MemoryTouch memory foam and PureTouch latex foam mattresses, as well as a spring mattress, will be featured in the sofa-sleepers.

The U.S.-made line will be available for shipment throughout North America, said Gerry Borreggine, CEO of Therapedic.

“We have built a quick-ship model, which will help retailers make quick sales and turn goods fast,” he said. Therapedic selected best-selling frames and covers from Edgecombe’s offerings for the new program.

Retails are expected to start at about $399 for a sofa-sleeper.

“This is a strong program and a natural extension to our mattress line,” Borreggine said. The upholstery line will be shown at the High Point Market in April.

Edgecombe Furniture is a division of Cotton Belt Inc., whose Sleep Worthy division operates as Therapedic Mid-Atlantic, producing mattresses for five Southeastern states.

“We are excited about the growth potential with Therapedic, and we plan to grow stronger as part of the Therapedic team,” said Bob Phillips, vice president of Edgecombe.
